Every day children from all walks of life join us at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor. Each child has his or her own story of how the Club has impacted their life. IN MY CLUB is a collection of those stories. However, it doesn't stop there. The Club also impacts our staff, our volunteers and our donors. We would love to hear how the Club has impacted you. Tiesha came to the Boys & Girls Clubs with a dream to achieve the unimaginable by discovering new talents and skills and creating lifelong mentorships.

The Club's Character & Leadership programs directly impacted her life, providing first-hand experience in philanthropy. She traveled the world leading youth and service initiatives with the knowledge gained as Assistant Director at the Club. She went on to mentor Club youth during and after college; receiving the Lux Service Award from the University of Northern Iowa, the highest undergradate honor awarded at commencement.

Tiesha has spent the past 10 years in leadership positions in higher edcation to make a difference in the lives of college studewnts across the Midwest. She is now married, raising two children and teaching at Des Moines Area Community College.

Elementary school was a challenge for Ryan, who was often teased and called names for being short and sensitive. Club programs like Passport to Manhood and Triple Play, encouraged his self-confidence, making him feel as though he was the tallest person in the world. He grew from a Club member to a leader, joining the Club's Junior Staff and leading Triple Play and Game Room activities.

Ryan is currently working towards a degree in Physical Education and Health at Hibbing Community College in Minnesota.

Early in life, Mykala was responsible for making sure she and her sister got by on what little they had. Through the Club's Character & Leadership programs, her natural leadership skills were ignited.

After graduating high school, she joined the Navy where she was quickly promoted to Gunners Mate Second Class. After four years in the Navy, Mykala is set to graduate this fall from George Mason University with a degree in Elementary Education.
